NDP STATEMENT ON REMEMBRANCE DAY

"Today New Democrats join Canadians across the country in taking the time to reflect and remember those who fought; those who were injured, and the many that did not make it home.  We remember with sorrow the families who welcomed back shattered souls, shattered bodies, or no one at all.

Today we honour these women and men who have served our country so proudly.  We remember them today, but we must not forget our sacred obligation to the veterans who served this country. Our actions must be more than just words. We must work across party lines to ensure that all veterans and their families are treated with respect and dignity and that no veteran falls through the cracks.

On this day we pay our respects to each and every veteran and reflect on the values we sent our sons and daughters to protect. Many of them paid a terrible price to uphold those values.  We must honour their sacrifice.

Lest we forget."
