CHARLIE ANGUS' LETTER TO SUPPORTERS - JANUARY 20, 2019
"The Prime Minister says he is standing up for jobs - the jobs of lobbyists. The Prime Minister is being led around the nose by lobbyists. The question is whether he is willing to obstruct justice for them." - Charlie Angus
Friends,
Today Justin Trudeau voted against my motion calling for an independent investigation into whether or not his office attempted to obstruct the biggest corruption case in memory.
In the House of Commons, I asked the Prime Minister to stop hiding behind the mask of solicitor-client privilege and allow Jody Wilson-Raybould to speak truth to power. This exchange is worth watching.
When the vote came today, Ms. Wilson Raybould stood and said she wanted it on record that she was unable to vote because she was being limited by the solicitor-client obligations and the motion put her under a conflict of interest with the client - the Prime Minister.
You need to see her statement where she states: "I hope to have the opportunity to speak my truth."
I followed up by pointing out that the Prime Minister, as the client, should not be allowed to vote if she was being denied her ability to express herself. Watch here.
The Prime Minister ignored this and proceeded to shut down a study that would have ensured accountability and transparency to Canadians. This is not acceptable and I will keep fighting for answers.
We're in this together, Charlie
