CHARLIE ANGUS' LETTER TO SUPPORTERS - AUGUST 21, 2018
Tomorrow evening I'll be hosting a Town Hall Meeting in Scarborough on the need for a national suicide prevention action plan - it's our second THM since the campaign Not One More was launched earlier this year. For those of you unable to attend, there is a way for you to support the campaign right now.
I'm asking for your help in saving a program that has been a lifeline for thousands of Canadians.
The Canada Suicide Prevention Service (CSPS) launched a national call, text and chat service to help people suffering from depression and suicidal thoughts. The program has been an enormous success offering support to people across this vast country.
And yet, because of a lack of federal government funding, it's facing shutdown. We can't let this happen.
It is unconscionable that the federal government would let such an important lifeline for Canadians fail after a mere eight months in operation.
Please take a minute to email the Minister of Health (firstname.lastname@example.org) calling on her to extend funding for the CSPS. If you prefer to send a letter of support, you can use the form letter available on my website - click here.
I would also ask that you please share this email with people who care about mental health issues. Together we can save this lifeline.
Thank you, Charlie
